Junior Endurance Group
Session information
Between the ages 13 – 17, teenagers experience rapid physical growth and initially rapid, then steady brain development. Athletically, they are not “mini-adults”.
Training and coaching needs to take account of this. For this reason we follow the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) approach which is recognised as the best way to ensure long, sustainable and successful participation in the sport.
We build on the fundamental and foundational skills developed at the Academy. If you have not attended the academy, we will help you build these essential skills.
We encourage athletes to experiment with different approaches, drills and distances as this is the best time to develop efficient running economy and the skills to run fast.
Training sessions will be varied and include drills, sprinting, speed play, hills, cross-country and track. The group is focussed on athletes interested in running longer distances, 400m up.
