Success at the Vets League

Southampton Men’s Vets team ended their league season on a real high, with victory at Aldershot by just 2 points (141 points) from eventual League winners Basingstoke and hosts Aldershot, both tying for 2nd place (139 points). We’ve been there or thereabouts all season making a real contest of it finishing runners up to Basingstoke on 3 occasions but this evening the team got their due reward. The whole team be it scoring and non scoring stepped up throughout the season for scoring duties when needed and produced pb’s and club records along the way.
The Ladies brilliantly defended their league title from last year despite finishing runners up on the night to hosts Aldershot. Two wins from 2 in the opening fixtures and runners up last month at Basingstoke put them firmly in the driving seat and favourites to take the league title barring disaster in the final fixture and they didn’t disappoint. They will now take their place in the Champions Final representing the Hampshire Division against the other 7 divisional Champions from the South.
Thanks once again to all the cake makers, officials and Caroline for all her efforts in keeping us in tea and coffee - it really does make a huge difference.
