Oli runs World junior championships qualifying time

Shirley sprint sensation Oli Bromby had a night to remember at the Lee Valley summer sprint series open meeting in North London on Wednesday evening when he posted not just 1 but 2 times inside the British qualifying standard for the World junior championships to be held in Poland in July.

Whilst his 10.40 effort at the Hampshire champs was well inside the qualifying mark of 10.45 secs it was with a following wind just outside the legal limit.  There was no such doubt on Wednesday as Oli first recorded a time of 10.43 secs and then a legal pb of 10.40 secs to win both races ahead of older rival Reuben Arthur himself a GB representative at the world and european junior championships over the last two years.

The trials for the championships take place as part of the England Athletics U20 championships at Bedford on the 18th & 19th June with the winner guarenteed a place on the plane to Poland provided they have secured that all important qualifying standard.

Elsewhere in the same meeting, masters over 50 female athlete Tracey Bezance posted a seasons best 100m time as did U20 Amy Teal.  Masters over 40 man Mark Collins ran well and Izzy Bryant was 7th in her 100m heat.
