Oli qualifies for World championships semi-finals

Oli Bromby comfortably made tomorow's 100m semi finals of the world junior championships by finishing 2nd in his heat this morning.

Oli eased near the finish to take 2nd place and an automatic qualifying spot just behind Jack Hale from Australia.  The automatic qualifying spot gives him a favourable draw in lane 4 in the 2nd semi-final which will be shown live on Eurosport at 6.27pm.  Despite the ease of qualification Oli ranks just 7th fastest of the 8 man line up and it will take a special effort to make one of the 2 automatic or 2 fastest losers spots for the final later tomorrow evening but Oli will be hoping for a pb and was upbeat when interviewed by British Athletics after the race.

Oli said: “It was good to get through but I felt a bit average as it was my first race for a few weeks.  I know there is a lot more to come.  I need to work on my start and prepare for tomorrow.”   In Poland to help Oli prepare for tomorrow are coaches Gary & Sara who have done such an amazing job in getting the Shirley sprint sensation to the start line in Bydgoszcz.
