Mo & Zak take Hampshire schools cross country titles
The clubs young athletes did well in the Hampshire schools cross country championships at Southampton Sports Centre on Saturday with some no doubt booking their places on the coach for the English Schools cross country championships in Blackburn in March.In the Senior boys race for those at college or in sixth form, Mo Mahamed won comfortably and it was nice to see Lucas Clements competing again and finishing 7th. For the Senior girls, Alana Spiers ran a fine race to finish 8th.
In the Inter boys race for those in the last 2 years at school, Sam Costley and Luke Powell were 4th and 5th respectively. Patrick Whelan was 20th, and Harry Corker 36th. For the Inter girls, Aimee Coppin was 11th and Lizzie Payne returned to form in 15th. Hannah Polden was 17th, Anna Reavey 21st, Maya Gill 27th and Ella Prinsep 40th.
In the Junior boys race for those in school years 8 & 9, Zak Mahamed won with Toby Hales 17th, Jack Higgins 33rd, Sean Miller 34th, Ben Williams 40th, Adam Sandison 53rd and Ben Bowles 73rd. For the Junior girls, Izzy Richardson ran a great race in 3rd place with another year to go in the schools age group. Holly Powell was 5th, Poppy Wright 12th, Grace Kelly 21st, Phoebe Moriarty-Palios 24th, Aimee Rayner 25th, Grace Reavey 27th, Izzy Bennett 32nd, Polly Sandison 71st and Freya Coe 97th.
