End of Summer Training for the Academy

Summer training at the Academy was marked by two special evenings showcasing the athletes skills with a family session and end of training rounders and Quad Kids Awards presentation.

The first was an evening where parents were invited to join the young athletes on the track. Not wanting to be left out we had whole families on the track, parents, siblings, uncles and cousins. Those that couldn't run jump or throw were able to help manage the events and learn a bit about what the officials do. The groups were able to compete and learn about sprints, long jumps, throws, endurance and the session ended with a mass relay.

The final Academy session in August was given over to a game of rounders. Two teams worked hard in the heat and the winning team won by only a few points. The game was followed by Quad Kids Awards for those who attended the Wessex League Quad kids competitions this season. Certificates were awarded to the twenty athletes who attended one or more competition and Outstanding Effort trophies for attending all 4 events were given to:

  • Liam Savage
  • Alice Tabor
  • Millie Honan
