Douglas takes British indoor title, Merritt wins silver & Bromby takes double bronze

Southampton AC athletes won 4 medals at the British indoor age group track & field championships at Sheffield at the weekend.Andy Douglas fresh from an enourmous leap of 4.52m the previous weekend at Vault London which leads the UK rankings by 40cm was hot favourite for the U17 mens pole vault title and so it proved as Andy jumped 4.15m to add the british indoor crown to his growing list of titles.

Sophie Merritt putted the shot out to 12.92m for a new indoor lifetime best, club record and the silver medal in the womens U20 age group.

Shirley sprint sensation Oli Bromby had a weekend to remember stepping up to the U20 age group with fine performances against the best young sprinters in the sport.  Oli recorded lifetime bests and club records of 6.79secs and 21.56 secs to take the bronze medals in both 60m & 200m.

Izzy Bryant equalled her pb to come 4th in her heat of the U17 womens 60m and Lucy-Jane Matthews ran a new pb and (U13) club record to come 4th in her heat of the U15 girls 60m hurdles missing out on semi-final qualification by just 0.03 secs.
