Amaya & Andy take British champs golds.

The England athletics national U15 & U17 championships concluded in Bedford yesterday.  With competitors taking part from the other home countries this effectively acts as the British championships.Amaya Scott put in a superb performance in appalling conditions to take the U15 girls high jump title with a leap of 1.69m.  This was Multi-eventer Amaya's first national title and the performance just 1cm below her pb on any day would have been amazing but jumping off a wet surface into a soaking wet high jump bed in the pouring rain made it even more remarkable.  Amaya also came 7th in the long jump final where Georgia O'Dell was 18th.

Andy Douglas continued his dominance of the U17 mens pole vault to take the British title with an impressive leap of 4.51m in dificult conditions.  This adds the British title to Andy's long list this year which inlcude county title, county schools title, English schools title, Home International schools title, South of England title both indoors and out and British indoor title, what a season.

Elsewhere, Samantha Callaway was 5th in the U15 girls discus final just 40cm short of a medal and 12th in the shot putt final and Luke Powell was 11th in the final of the U17 mens 1500m.
