Dave takes paralympic bronze
Dave Henson fulfilled his ambition of a paralympic medal with a scintillating performance in the T42 200m final in Rio last night.
Running a lifetime best time of 24.74 Dave finished strongly to take bronze behind teammate Richard Whitehead and South Africa's Ntando Mahlangu.
Speaking on channel 4 after the race Dave said
"It just shows you want you can do. People suggested I go for Tokyo but I said I would go to Rio and medal.
"Five and a half years ago I nearly died. I've got my wife and daughter watching at home. Words can't express how thankful I am for their support."
What an amazing performance from Dave to produce a lifetime best when it mattered most, the whole of Southampton is hugely proud of what he has acheived.
Dave has a short rest before competing in the T42 100m later in the week.
