Amaya wins schools regional multi-events title
Amaya Scott competing in her first heptathlon put in a world class age group performance to score a colassal 4920 points and take the South East schools regional intermediate (U17) girls multi-events title at the weekend at Lee Valley in North London. Amaya recorded a stunning 5 personal bests in sprint hurdles, shot, long jump, javelin and 800m and led the competition from the 2nd event the high jump onwards. The points total smashes the club record, tops the UK age group rankings and puts Amaya 10th on the all time age group heptathlon rankings. This qualifies Amaya for the English schools multi-events finals to be held in Exeter in September.
George Rosam was 15th in the intermediate boys octathlon, Hannah Childs was 10th for the junior (U15) girls but qualifies for the English schools finals as part of the winning Hampshire team on the day. Callum Gregson was 11th for the junior boys and Jack McDonald 25th but that did include a huge pb of 2 mins 12.3 secs in the final event the 800m.
