Lou wins British championship bronze medal.
In a race shown live on BBC2, Louise Webb literally ran the race of her life to take 3rd place in the womens 3000m steeplechase at the British championships in Birmingham yesterday.
Lou knocked an incredible 13 seconds of her pb to record her first sub 10 minutes time, a time of 9 mins 57.18 secs that puts her 3rd in the UK rankings behind Rio bound Lennie Waite who was 2nd yesterday and yesterdays race winner Rosie Clarke.
Whilst the time wasn't inside the 9 mins 45 qualifying standing for the European champs and Olympic games, it was nevertheless a huge pb for Lou and a breakthrough sub 10 minute run for a hard working athlete with a full time job and no funding.
Elsewhere yesterday, Freya Jones threw over 50m to take 4th place in the womens javelin and Sophie Merritt shot putted 13.63m to be 7th giving the club 3 top ten British championship placings on our very own super sunday for the women.
