Oli finishes 2nd in Mannheim
Oli Bromby came 2nd on his debut as a GB junior in the Mannheim junior international match in Germany yesterday.
Oli won his 100m heat in 10.42 with a slight following wind (+0.5). That was some way down on the other heat winners, Jack Hale of Australia who clocked a seasons best if 10.21 ( wind- legal +1.4) and team mate, World Youth Bronze medalist Rechmial Miller with a heavily wind assisted 10.23 (+2.4). Miller subsequently withdrew from the final to concentrate on the relay.
In the final, Oli suffered a poor start before recovering to finish second behind Hale in 10.49 sec; the weather having deteriorated with heavy rain. Oli returned under an hour later, to run his 3rd 100m of the day this time running a strong first leg for GB juniors in the 4 x 100m relay. That set up a lead which the British team held for the rest of the race.
