Sam takes South of England gold
A number of the clubs athletes brought home medals from the senior & U20 South of England championships at Lee Valley at the weekend.
For the senior men, Sam Bass-Cooper put in the clubs gold medal winning performance by taking joint first in the pole vault. On the track Sean Adams took silver in the 400m hurdles final. Calum Bressington was 4th in his 400m heat but Tyson Oladokan qualified through his heat to the semi-final where he was 7th. Matt Revier also made the final of the 1500m finishing 10th and Max Costley was 15th in the 5000m. For the U20 men, Matt Callaway took silver in the discus the day after winning senior boys gold at the Hampshire schools championships.
In the senior womens competitions, Lizzie Clifford was 4th in the 400m hurdles final and Georgina Russell was 7th in the 800m final both having qualified through their respective semi-finals. For the U20 women, Sophie Merritt took shot putt silver and was 4th in the discus and Katya Oldfield was 4th in the high jump.
