It’s gold for Oli and silver for Sam

Oliver Bromby took the national indoor U20 mens 60m title in Sheffield yesterday with a hugely impressive performance as he powered through the field to win in a personal best time of 6.73 ses.Oli eased though heat and semi-final winning both before destroying a quality field including Rechmial Miller who pipped him to bronze in the world youth championship bronze in Colombia in the Summer.  The time slices 6 hundredths of a second off of Oli's 60m pb and takes him to U20 mens UK number 1 and to number 5 in the World junior rankings. Ryan Coles was 4th in his 60m heat. In one of the last events of the day Samatha Callaway putted the shot out to 12.33m for a huge personal best on her 6th and last attempt to take silver behind City of Portsmouth's Serena Vincent in the U15 girls shot. Elsewhere in Sheffield it was a great day for the clubs female sprinters as Ellie Hodgson (U17W), Izzy Bryant & Amy Teal (both U20W) all made it through their respective heats to make semi-finals.  All 3 bowed out at the semi-final stage but Ellie was just a smidge down on her pb in 7.85 secs in finishing 2nd in her heat before finishing 5th in her semi.  Izzy has been flying this winter and set a new pb of 7.80 secs in finishing 3rd in her heat before coming 4th in her semi and Amy qualified from her heat with 8.02 secs before coming 8th in her semi-final. Kieran Apps unfortunately didn't record a height in the U17 mens pole vault. More action from Sheffield again today including Oli looking for the sprint double in the 200m, Sophie Merritt in the shot and Andy Douglas in the pole vault.
