Lynden takes bronze at South of England indoor champs
15 year old Lynden Olowe finished 3rd in the 400m at the South of England indoor U17 championships at Lee Valley on Saturday.Lynden who trains in Pete Wareing's sprint group won both heat & semi final on the way to the final, all 3 races taking place on the same day. Lynden took bronze in a blanket finish for 2nd, 3rd and 4th places. This was Lynden's first indoor event and his time in the final of 51.57 secs smashed the club indoor age group record and was just outside his outdoor pb despite the tight bends of the North London indoor track.
Club athletes taking part in other events at the U15 & U17 championships came away with valuable experience. In Sunday's action, Multi-eventer George Rosam made his debut at the U17 age group by coming 6th in long jump with a big indoor pb of 5.96m. George then took on the 91.4cm hurdles for the first time in competition and won through to the semi-final by coming 3rd in his heat but crashed out at the semi-final stage. On Saturday, Oliver Thatcher putted a pb to be 8th in the U15 boys shot and was 6th in his heat of the 300m.
