Amaya comes 3rd in Home International match with huge points total

Amaya Scott made an amazing debut for England schools yesterday by coming 3rd in the indoor pentathlon Home International match in the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.Each schools team has 4 representatives at both U16 and U18 and Amaya qualified at U16 for England schools by coming 4th in the England schools combined events championships.  Amaya performed out of her socks to come 3rd overall with a huge points total of 3537 points to finish off what has been a breakthrough year for the Romsey schoolgirl. The winner Kate O'Connor from Newry in Northern Ireland is a name to watch after breaking the championship best performance with over 3800 points in an event that has previously been won by Katrina Johnson-Thompson and Morgan Lake with Pippa Earley from England in 2nd and Amaya 3rd. Amaya started the day with 5.29m in the long jump, her 2nd best ever and improving her indoor pb by over 50cm. She then ran a pb of 9.69 secs over the 60m hurdles and posted the days joint best age group high jump performance with 1.66m.  Amaya then shot putted a monster 12.17m smashing her previous best and finished off with a huge indoor pb of 2 mins 33 secs in the 800m. That added up 3537 points and quite a day for Amaya who improved her previous indoor best by nearly 500 points from when she finished 5th in the British indoor U15 champs in March. full set of results below.
