Bromby demolishes field to storm to English schools title

Shirley sprint sensation Oliver Bromby surged clear of the rest of the field to take the Inter boys 100m title on day 2 of the English schools championships in Birmingham yesterday.In one of those wow moments which drew gasps from the crowd, he simply blew the rest of the field away to win in 10.68 secs running into a minus 1.1 per second wind.  Oli who has been with the club since the age of 9 and is part of Gary & Sara's fantastic training group was quoted in typical laid back style as saying "that felt great". On another fantastic day for the club, a further 7 top 5 finishes took place.  Also on the track. Mo Mahamed smashed his own club record to finish 5th in the Inter boys 300m in a time of 8.48.13 secs.  Izzy Bryant and Amy Teal were part of the Hampshire Inter girls 4 x 100m team who were just pipped by Surrey into 2nd place. Emily Jenkinson ran a good race in a seasons best time of 2.09.05 secs to finish 4th in the senior girls 800m. Lizzie Clifford the City of Salisbury athlete who completes for the club as a higher claim athlete came 4th in the senior girls 400m hurdles in a time of 62.18 secs.  Reiss Jarvis was 7th in the junior boys 300m final and Amy Teal was 6th in the Inter girls 100m final with both doing extremely well to make the final.  Ellie Hodgson was part of the Hampshire junior girls 4 x 100m relay team that came 7th & Oli Bromby and Adam Jones part of the Hampshire Inter boys 4 x 100m team that also came 7th. In the field, all 3 athletes competing finished in the top 5.  First up, Katya Oldfield jumped to a new club record with a magnificent performance of 1.71m to finish 5th just missing out on a medal on countback as Kat jumped the same height as the 3rd place athlete.  Sam Bass-Cooper leapt to 4th place in the senior boys pole vault, clearing 4.40m and Jordan Campbell also finished 4th in the senior girls javelin with a throw of 41.95m.
