Campbell takes Bronze and Bromby reaches final at National championships

Last season's female young athlete of the year Jordan Campbell took bronze at the English national U20 & U23 championships and junior world championships trials at Bedford at the weekend.  Jordan threw 42.66m to take 3rd place in the U20 womens javelin. Emma Cowell technically also took a bronze medal in the U20 womens high jump with a clearance of 1.65m although unusually she shared this achievment (also on countback) with 4 other women who also came joint 3rd. Shirley sprint sensation Oliver Bromby  smashed the club record with a blistering run of 10.57 secs in his heat and then finished 4th in his semi-final to make the U20 mens 100m final.  Oli is still only an U17 and having felt a niggle, he sensibly missed the final and will now throw all his energy at the English schools championships. Elsewhere, Jason Amartey was 6th in both his U20 mens 100m & 200m heat, Ronnie Young was 5th in his U20 mens 400m heat, and Dudley Mason was 7th in his U23 mens 800m heat.
