Jenkinson repeats gold at south of England indoor championships

Emily Jenkinson repeated her victory last year to bring home a gold medal in the U20 womens 800m at the South of England indoor championships at Lee Valley athletics centre in North London. Emily improved on her time of last year by 3 hundredths of a second to record a new championship best performance 2 mins 14.84 secs. This was the first day of the 3 day meeting spread over 2 weekends.  The first day includes a number of individual events as well as the U15 & U17 pentathlon competitions. George Rosam celebrated his first competition at U15 by winning the bronze medal in the boys pentathlon.  George recorded pb’s in all 5 events to record a score of 2007 points.  George just pipped teammate Josh Nash who putted a fantastic 10.21m in the shot putt on his way to 4^th place and 1974 points.  Amaya Scott also took on her first competition at U15 and recorded 15^th place in the girls pentathlon. Amaya recorded a number of pb’s and would have finished higher but for a fall in the hurdles. Katya Oldfield represented the club in the U17 womens pentathlon and just missed out on a medal in 4^th place.  This was Katya’s first competition at her new age group and she recorded 2920 points less than 100 points off a medal. Rory Farrell took the club’s 3^rd medal of the day taking bronze in the U20 mens high jump with a leap of 1.80m. Elsewhere Chris Greenaway made the final of the mens 400m where he finished 5^th.  Calum Bressington just missed out on a semi-final berth by coming 4^th in his heat.  Martin Johnson & Steven Underwood were 4^th & 5^th respectively in their heats of the mens 800m. Ronnie Young just missed out on a medal in 4^th place in the U20 mens 400m with Alex Ruggles making the semi-finals where he bowed out in 4^th place. David Fisher was 6^th in his heat of the U20 mens 800m. Reiss Jarvis qualified for the final of the U15 boys 300m where he came 6^th. Results attached.
